ABOUT THE CALCULUS OF BLOCK BRAKES USED ON POWER PRESSES
» Abstract. For the power presses, the brakes are assemblies with an important purpose in the well functioning of these machines. It is amenable the importance for the accurate calculus of these assemblies. The paper presents the specific expressions established for the calculus of block brakes used on power presses and underlines the possibility of using a generalized equation applicable for the calculus of any friction clutch or brake that belongs to a power press. It also presents the stages that must be followed in order to adjust the calculus of a block brake.

THEORETIC STUDY OF THE INFLUENCE CASTING TEMPERATURE ON THE CASTING FLUIDITY OF THE IRONS
» Abstract. The paper presents a mathematic model for calculating of casting fluidity for the liquid alloys. There are given some application examples for the mathematic modelling of the study for the influence of casting temperature on the casting fluidity in the case of white eutectics irons.

BALANCED AUTOMATION IN FLEXIBLE MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS
» Abstract. Partly due to the introduction of computers and intelligent machines in modern manufacturing, the role of the operator has changed with time. More and more of the work tasks have been automated, reducing the need for human interactions. One reason for this is the decrease in the relative cost of computers and machinery compared to the cost of having operators. Even though this statement may be true in industrialized countries it is not evident that it is valid in developing countries. However, a statement that is valid for both industrialized countries and developing countries is to obtain balanced automation systems. The way of reaching this goal, however, might be different depending on the place of the manufacturing installation. Aspects, such as time, money, safety, flexibility and quality, govern the steps to take in order to reach a balanced automation system. In this paper there are defined six steps of automation that identify areas of work activities in a modern manufacturing system that might be performed by either an automatic system or a human.

EFFECT OF FOAMING METALS CONFIGURATION ON EXPANSION FOR ALUMINIUM POWDERS
» Abstract. Foamed metals are attractive engineering materials offering, in particular, the benefit of a high energy absorbing capacity. The powder metallurgy route is an attractive method for making Al foam components as it offers the possibilities of near net shaping. Producing foam products from powders involves mixing and compacting metal powder with a gas-producing foaming agent such as TiH2. The resulting precursor is then heated above the decomposition temperature of the foaming agent and the melting point of the metal powder. This causes the molten compact to expand, resulting in a highly porous material with closed cells.

THE ANALYSIS OF THE INFLUENCE ON THE MAIN TECHNICAL INDICATORS F THE RESISTANCE STRUCTURE AND OF THE MATERIALS USED IN WINDOW CONSTRUCTION
» Abstract. The work is part of a study referring to the way the main materials used in window construction influence the main technical and qualitative indicators. Therefore, several aspects are analyzed, regarding the influence of the materials used for the resistance structures and of the window-glasses on the thermal transfer, on the specific infiltration and on the acoustic isolation. The materials composing the window structures exert different kinds of influence on the indicators. The share of the influence varies according to the role the materials play in the window structure, on the properties of the materials and on their position.

THE LOGICAL SEQUENCE MODULES (LMS)
» Abstract. In the present paper the author wants to determine the performances of the SLM, which is the base in the sequential pneumatic commands. To achieve this goal he uses optical sensors, made by the author, which are connected to a computer that, using appropriate software, measures the response times. These times are compared to those obtained by simulation of a pneumatic circuit with an electronic circuit, using SPICE program.

THE USE OF THE REAL SOLIDIFICATION MODULE AS AN INDICATOR FOR CASTINGS MACRO-SOLIDIFICATION ANALYSIS
» Abstract. The authors propose a new concept to characterize the castings from the solidification view point that is named the real solidification module. It is shown that the solidification module, so that is calculated till now (the rapport between the casting volume and its contact aria with mould and cores) and called by the authors the ideal solidification module, isn’t always correlated with the solidification time of castings. For this reason there is proposed a new equation to calculate the solidification module. This attends to the real solidification conditions of castings inside the mould.

WBT WORLD – A LEONARDO DA DINCI PILOT PROJECT FOR WEB-BASED TRAINERS
» Abstract. The project WBT WORLD RO/02/B/F/PP 141053, entitled “Building a Web-Based Trainers’ Wide Open Resource for Learning and Development”, is a pilot project founded by European Commission, Education and Culture Directorate, through the Romanian Leonardo da Vinci Agency. WBT WORLD is an 18 months project and it was started on 1 August 2004, under the coordination of Transilvania University of Brasov. The project WBT WORLD is addressing to the people who design and deliver web-based courses. The growing need for this kind of courses leads to the initiation and development of a new profession: Web-Based Trainers (WBT).

NOISE IN TV CHANNEL. NOISE MEASURING AT TV RECEIVER ENTRANCE (3rd PART)
» Abstract. This paper presents the experimentally results of noise measuring at TV receiver input. Aiming for establishing the influence of the noise on the TV image quality recomposed inside the TV receiver at the end of the transmission channel in different conditions and for a relatively long period of time, the following acquisition system was used: a noise analyzer, a high resolution I/O card and a computer for the process flow control and information processing. The measurements campaign was focused on measuring the noise level at the input of the television receiver and processing the data for identifying the character of the noise that predominantly affects image quality. The data acquisition system was used to measure various parameters of fluctuation noise at TV receiver entrance. These parameters are important in understanding the noise influence on the quality of received images. The experimentally measurements were concentrated onto determining the characteristics of the noise in UHF frequency band TV channels.

GLSCENE-OPENGL – EFFECTIVE TOOLS FOR INDUSTRIAL ROBOTS SIMULATION
» Abstract. This paper analyzes the most popular simulation tools for industrial robots. Is presented fully functional 3D simulation software applied on a specific manipulator model RV-M1 (Movemaster EX), manufactured by Mitsubishi, for offline and teach-in programming. Implementation language is Delphi & GLScene (OpenGL). This simulation package increases the robot engineering productivity in the development process; moreover it could be used as a virtual training manipulator.
